Lappi oli aiheena parinakin päivänä ja näimme paljon kuvia ja esineitä – neljäntuulen hatun, kuksia, Saamen lippua, nukkeja saamelaispuvuissaan ja puukkoja. Kuuntelimme Lapin joikua ja yritimme laulaa myös oman joikun!
Opimme Lapin eläimistä, joista monet on uhanalaisia ja/tai löydettävissä vain Lapista. Keskustelimme säästä – ihmettelimme sekä talven kaamosaikaa että kesän keskiyön aurinkoa! Juttelimme ja näimme kuvia revontuleista ja sitten askartelimme omat!
Lapland was our topic for two days in term 4 and we saw many pictures and artefacts along the way – a four winds hat, ‘kuksa’ cups, the Saami flag, dolls in traditional costume and ‘puukko’ knives. We also listened to some Lappish ‘joikua’, as well as trying one ourselves.
We talked about the animals of Lapland, many of which are endangered and/or found in few other places, and the weather – we found out there are days of endless sun in summer and endless “dark” in winter. We talked about and saw pictures of the Northern Lights. We even made our own!
Katsoimme ”Joulupukki ja Noitarumpu” elokuvaa ja söimme jäätelöä lakkahillolla, ja lopuksi teimme omat noitarummut!
Vuosi oli tehtäviä ja tietoa täynnä, ja pidimme hauskaa matkan varrella. Toivotaan vieläkin parempaa 2011!
We watched “Joulupukki ja Noitarumpu” and had ice cream with cloudberry jam. We made our own ‘noitarummut’!
We had a busy and fun filled year... here’s looking forward to an even better 2011 ahead!
